Liang Yu reimagines WaMao (Tile Cat), Yunnan’s traditional rooftop guardian, through contemporary ceramic jewellery and objects. Her work carries this guardian motif into pieces for wearing and everyday spaces, connecting cultural memory with modern life.

A graduate of the School of Design at Yunnan Arts University, Liang Yu has used glazing and firing techniques from Jingdezhen to reinterpret WaMao. Her vision of a “Tile Cat Universe” brings the traditional figure into contemporary design.
