Artist Introduction | Liang Yu

A graduate of the School of Design at Yunnan Arts University, Liang Yu has devoted her path to ceramics, where earth and fire converge into art. In 2021, she reimagined the traditional Wa Mao —the guardian tile-cat motif of Yunnan—through the refined glazing and firing techniques of Jingdezhen , giving birth to a series of vessels and accessories that bridge tradition and modern living.

Liang Yu stands at the intersection of inheritance and innovation. By weaving cultural memory with contemporary aesthetics, she envisions a “Tile Cat Universe”, where intangible heritage enters daily life with renewed spirit.
